Yamaha
inducts more Indian managers
New Delhi - Yamaha Motor Company of Japan, in a revamp of its
entire management team of its recently acquired Indian motorcycle
venture, Yamaha Motors India, is inducting four Indian directors.
Two Indian directors--SK Taneja and Harminder Chawla--have already
been appointed and two others will take charge shortly.
A top company official of the Japanese company said, the induction of
Indian managers to the company's board reflected Yamaha's confidence
in local talent. He added that the company was looking at a greater
presence of Indian managers on Yamaha's board in India and wanted to
have Indian managers at key posts of marketing and finance and was in
the process of finalising names. Apart from this T Yoneda, currently
incharge of quality control, will be inducted as a director on the
board. This would take the board's total strength to ten. The change
of guard follows the Japanese major's acquisition of Escorts' 26 per
cent holding in the venture and convert YMEL into a wholly owned
subsidiary.
