V P Singh becomes IFCI chief

Delhi: The IFCI board on Tuesday appointed VP Singh as its
chairman and managing director. Singh will replace P.V. Narasimham who
will retire on September 28.
The government had offered extension to the existing CMD Narasimham
for one year but he declined it. The institute is currently facing a
tough time as its non performing assets have gone up to 20 per cent of
the total loan portfolio.
