HLL starts two factories in Silvassa
Silvassa: Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) has commissioned detergents and beverages factories. The detergents factory, which was set up with an investment of Rs 45 crore, has an annual capacity of 180,000 tonnes per annum of bars and concentrate powders.
The detergents factory would manufacture brands such as Surf, Excel, Rin and Vim.

HLL has seven factories in the Daman-Silvassa region spread across four businesses - detergents, personal products, beverages - and one in chemicals.

ACL to invest Rs 150 crore
New Delhi: Subhash Chandra promoted Essel Group company Agrani Convergence Ltd will invest Rs 150 crore by the end of this fiscal.

The company is going to invest Rs 150 crore to open 24 multi- format technology superstore chains which will offer a whole gamut of IT, telecom, media and entertainment products.

The company will come up with 408 such stores by 2002, which will be increased, to 2,500 by 2006. So far ACL has invested Rs 10 crore and aims to break-even within three years.

ACL is targeting to reach almost 80 per cent of all the district headquarters of the country.

ACL retail shops will cater to the telecom, information technology and learning, media and entertainment arena. ACL will also launch a catalogue in October and virtual shops (e-stores) in November.

ACL e-store will offer 10,000 products.

The virtual store would provide Internet-enabled consumers access to a wide assortment of technology products, while the catalogue would offer a variety of options for the corporate customer.

Microsoft in pact with Compaq, Intel for Windows XP
New Delhi: Microsoft India is partnering with Compaq and Intel to launch Windows XP in the country.

The joint marketing efforts include customer roadshows showcasing the product and point of purchase promotions. Compaq and Microsoft would undertake joint corporate seeding programme, targeting key customers across the country.

In addition, the two companies would collaborate on post launch retail development programmes at various Compaq outlets across the country. Compaq is also platinum partner for Windows XP launch for the Asia Pacific region.

Windows XP is scheduled for launch globally on October 25 this year, and would be simultaneously launched in India. Windows XP is Microsoft's latest offering for the desktop space and combines the reliability of Windows 2000 operating system with ease of use of Windows 98.

Maruti to roll out 'Versa' next month
New Delhi: Versa, the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) from Maruti's stable is to hit Indian roads by the end of next month. The new vehicle is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 6 to Rs 7 lakh.

Versa will be in the same segment as Ford's Ikon and Hyundai's Accent.

Sansuis Singapore deal for dealers
Mumbai: Sansui is taking 1,600 of its dealers to Singapore for a holiday bash which includes a cruise. The company has hired seven exclusive Air-India jumbo jets to ferry the dealers who will be attending a two-day conference.
The dealers are from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Sansui plans to unveil two new products including two television sets and a music system on the cruise during the trip.
