Modi invited to form govt
in Gujarat
Gandhinagar:
Gujarat chief minister-designate
Narendra Modi was on Thursday invited to form the
government by the state governor after he was elected leader of
the BJP legislature party unanimously.
The
governor's invitation came after state BJP president Rajendrasinh
Rana, accompanied Modi, central party observer Madan Lal Khurana
and party chief whip Vadibhai Patel met Bhandari and handed over a
letter from the party MLAs informing about the unanimous election
of Mr. Modi.
Modi
replaced Keshubhai Patel following the party's debacle in the
recent by-elections to Sabarmati Assembly seat and Sabarkantha Lok
Sabha seat.

into US to become difficult

Delhi: Service
professionals from India may find it increasingly difficult to
travel to the US.
According to industry observers, there is going to be delay in
issuing H1B visa
as the US authorities are expected to take a tough stand on
the issue of immigration.
So
far, the checks from employment agencies or companies were limited
to educational background and employment
history. But now there would be emphasis on identifying and
debarring a criminal background candidate to be selected as
prospective employee.
Such
investigation was conducted on rare occasions earlier.

Drawback
duty hiked on 300 items
New
Delhi: The center has increased duty drawback on about 300
product groups and removed the value cap on about 400 items
getting relief under the duty entitlement passbook scheme in order
to boost exports.
The revised duty drawback rates and other changes are effective
from October 4.
