Ramani to head HP Labs

DelhI: Hewlett-Packard has appointed well-known R&D specialist
Srinivas Ramani as head of HP Labs India. Ramani, a former R&D
director at Silverline Technologies and the founder director of Mumbai-based
National Centre for Software Technology, is a known face in Indian IT
circles.
Ramani will continue to serve as a member of Silverline's advisory
board. He is also the executive vice-president of the International
Council for Computer Communication, on the United Nations high-level
panel of advisors in information and communications technologies.
In the past, he has served as president of the Computer Society of
India. Ramani also played a major role in planning and creating
India's education and research network, and is behind the setting up
of a large leased line network under ERNET.

Mahesh
Gupta to take over as RPG group CFO
Mumbai:
Piramal group chief financial officer (CFO) Mahesh S Gupta is expected
to take charge as group CFO and member of the management board of the
Rs 6,500-crore RPG group.
Mr Gupta, a fellow member of
both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute
of Company Secretaries of India, had been associated with the Ajay
Piramal group for over 15 years. Mr Gupta, who started out as a
management trainee, moved up the ladder quickly, rising to the
position of CFO at the Piramal group.

Rakesh
Mohan quits as FMs adviser
New Delhi: Rakesh
Mohan has resigned as the adviser to the Union finance minister. He
would be back in Industrial Development and Finance Corporation as its
executive vice-chairman.
NIPFP director Ashok Lahiri
is widely being tipped to take over as adviser to the finance minister
after Rakesh Mohan.
