Harshad Mehta remanded
to CBI custody
Mumbai:
Harshad Mehta and his brothers Ashwin and Sudhir were on Friday
remanded to CBI custody till November 23 by a special court in a
fresh case of forgery and misappropriation of shares.
The 'Big Bull' and his two brothers were arrested by the CBI. The
Economic Offence Wing of the agency also raided his residence and
office premises and gathered crucial evidence.
"We have arrested
Mehta, his brothers Ashwin Mehta and Sudhir Mehta in Mumbai
following registration of a fresh case of missing shares against
the three," said CBI spokesperson, S M Khan.
Harshad Mehta is accused of manipulating the stock markets with
the help of public sector and co-operative banks.

Petrol,
diesel prices increase marginally
New Delhi:
Government on Friday increased dealers' commission on petrol by
13.5 paise per litre and on diesel by 8.8 paise per litre. The
distributors commission on domestic LPG has also been increased
by Rs 1.02 per cylinder, an official statement said here.
After increase in dealers' commission, which takes effect from
midnight of November 9-10, retail-selling price of petrol in Delhi
would go up to Rs 28.94 per litre while that of diesel would
increase to Rs 17.18 per litre. Domestic LPG would now cost Rs
223.30 per cylinder.

China
to set up power plant in Chhattisgarh
Raipur:
The Chhattishgarh government would soon sign a memorandum of
understanding with a Chinese power major to set up a 500 MW
thermal power station in the state at a cost of Rs 15000 crore. A
team of officials from the state would visit China soon to sign
the MoU with the Chinese public sector power company.
