Mumbai:
Former CII president and current Wartsila India chairman Subodh
Bhargava has quit as director of State Bank of India.
Bhargava sits on the boards of VSNL, Samtel, Carborundum and is an
adviser to Eicher.

Deutsche
Bank appoints Neilson as chief country officer
Mumbai:
Deutsche Bank has appointed Douglas Neilson as its chief country
officer for India. Mr Neilson had taken charge of the German banks
Indian operations as acting chief country officer in January, after
the departure of Javad Shirazi.
Neilson will report to Martin Loat, CEO, Asia Pacific of Deutsche Banks
corporate and investment bank. He will be responsible for the
management of the banks network of five branches in the country.
Neilson will continue as director and head of corporate credit, India,
Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, a post he has held for four years.

Abbott
MD resigns
Mumbai: Tapan
Ray, the managing director of Abbott Laboratories, has resigned. The
board of directors has accepted his resignation at a meeting convened
yesterday.
Abbott Labs is a subsidiary of the $13-illion Abbott Inc of the US.
Ray came to Abbott as managing director in January 1998 from
multinational Glaxo India (now GlaxoSmithKline) where he was executive
director in charge of marketing. He was with the Glaxo group for 25
years, having also put in a stint in the headquarters at UK.

Sterlite
Optical directors quit
Mumbai:
Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd informed the Bombay Stock Exchange
that Dr Mansoor A. Safi and Mr A.T. Panjwani have resigned from the
board of directors of the company.
