Kalam
quits, Chidambaram to take over
New Delhi: Dr
APJ Abdul Kalam has quit as the principal scientific adviser to the
prime minister on Saturday. Former atomic energy commission chairman R

Widely projected as the
father of India's missile programme, Dr Kalam was moved up from the
defence research and development organisation in November 1999, after
heading the establishment for seven years.
