Air Sahara offers
credit on tickets
New
Delhi: Air Sahara is joining hands with Standard Chartered
Bank to provide its credit card holders interest-free credit for
purchasing air tickets.
Under the tie-up, Stanchart credit card holders will be given
interest-fee credit for buying Air Sahara tickets.
The credit will be available on zero-per cent interest with an
8.5-month payback period.
The airline has also roped in leading hotels across Delhi, Mumbai,
Bangalore, Kolkata, Goa and Lucknow to provide a package deal for
its travellers.

Pentasoft
posts Rs 14-crore net
Chennai:
Pentasoft Technologies Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 13.97
crore for the quarter ended September 30. The companys net
profit stood at Rs 33.88 crore during the same period last fiscal.
On a consolidated basis including subsidiaries, the net profit of
the company stood at Rs 26.61 crore, according to a company
statement.
The total income of the
company was Rs 83.63 crore (Rs 152.74 crore) and total expenditure
stood at Rs 41.81 crore (Rs 89.04 crore) during the period. The
overseas sales stood at Rs 55.16 crore accounting for 79 per cent
and domestic sales accounted for 21 per cent and stood at Rs 27.44
crore (Rs 26.32 crore) during the period. In the domestic segment,
training contributed 76 per cent and engineering services 16 per
cent.

Packer starts
packing from HFCL
Mumbai:
Australian media tycoon Kerry Packer has started exiting from HFCL.
Packer has sold off almost 25 lakh shares, reducing his holding in
the company to just six per cent from the original 10 per cent in
the last three months. Various FIIs are also reducing their
holding in HFCL.
The FII holding in the
company, which stood at 23.5 per cent of the companys equity
capital or 1.85 crore shares, now stands at just 2.8 per cent. The
price of the HFCL scrip, which was around Rs 90 in the beginning
of July is down now to Rs 62. The public shareholding in the
company is now up to 35.5 per cent, from just 15.7 per cent in
June 01.

Pepsi Foods
accumulates Rs 48 crore losses
New
Delhi: Pepsi Foods Ltd had accumulated losses of Rs 48 crore
in its books at the end of December 2000.
However, the company had
registered a net profit of Rs 16.6 crore during 2000, which was 70
per cent higher than the net profit of Rs 9.7 crore reported in
1999.
PepsiCo India Holdings,
PepsiCo India Marketing and seven other subsidiaries of Pepsi
Foods Ltd together have accumulated losses of Rs 265 crore till
December 2000.
Pepsi's arch-rival
Coca-Cola India has also reported accumulated losses of around Rs
650 crore in 2000 after its Atlanta-based parent wrote-off Rs
1,400 crore in the first quarter of the year.

Mercedes to roll
out Rs 79-lakh car
Mumbai:
Mercedes-Benz India is all set to roll out its top-of-the-line
S-500 L car, a variant of the company's popular S-Class, at a
price between Rs 76 lakh and Rs 79 lakh.
Mercedes is also planning
to launch the S-320 CDI (diesel)-another S-Class variant-that is
likely to cost Rs 54-58 lakh.
These S-Class variants
are two of the ten new cars that Mercedes plans to introduce in
India by February 2002.
The other models lined up
for launch include two new variants each of the E-Class and the
C-Class.
Others waiting for a
debut include the Mercedes CLK (a convertible) and the SLK (a
sports car), the latter coming to India for the first time. Some
versions of the E and C class are manufactured in India.
Mercedes will be
launching a sports coupe version of the C-Class, the C-200 K, at
around Rs 28-32 lakh, in addition to the C-200 K sedan, which will
cost Rs 30-36 lakh.
The CLK 320 convertible
and the SLK 230 K sports car will cost Rs 47-51 lakh and Rs 35-38
lakh, respectively.

Tata Tea to push
Tetley in Russia
Mumbai:
Tata Tea plans to promote the world's largest tea brand, Tetley,
in the Middle East, CIS and Russia.
As part of the recast
plan for Tetley, the brand will shift its focus from black tea to
higher value-added products such as flavoured tea, specialty tea,
green tea and herbal tea.
