crashes, 255 dead

York: An American Airlines flight crashed in a residential
area minutes after taking off from John F Kennedy International
Airport, killing all 255 people on board.
The American Airlines
Airbus-300, with 246 passengers and nine crew, was bound for Santo
Domingo, capital of Dominican Republic. It crashed into a
residential area about eight km from the airport.
The city was put on "Level One" alert and the JFK, La
Guardia and Newark airports have been closed down.
The aircraft is similar to the one that was crashed into the World
Trade Center on September 11. FBI believed there was an explosion
aboard the plane, and was investigating whether it was the result
of a mechanical failure or sabotage.

TRAI suggests 15%
licence fee for ILD

Delhi: Telecom regulatory authority of India on Monday
recommended open competition for international long distance
service and stipulated an entry fee of Rs 25 crore along with
revenue sharing at 15 per cent.
Apart from Rs 25 crore down payment as entry fee, TRAI also sought
a bank guarantee for identical amount favouring the licensor
guaranteeing due fulfillment of the stipulated roll out
conditions.
