Watts
to head WBCSD
New Delhi: Philip Watts, chairman of the committee of managing
directors of Royal Dutch/Shell Group of companies has been appointed
as chairman of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development
(WBCSD).
According to a
statement from Shell India, Mr Watts, who is co-chair of the WBCSDs
Sustainable Mobility Project, will take on the councils
chairmanship from January 2001 and hold the position for two years.
WBCSD is a coalition of 160 international companies from over 30
countries for sustainable development.

Jayanth
Kumar appointed new CEO of BPL
Bangalore: BPL Ltd has appointed Jayanth Kumar as its chief
executive officer (CEO). Mr Kumar has been director, central marketing
organisation, of BPL Ltd for over 12 years.
During his
tenure, the sales turnover of the company rose from Rs 20 crore to Rs
2,000 crore.
As CEO, Mr Kumar
will be reporting to chairman and managing director Ajit Nambiar.

Chawla quits as Max Health MD
New Delhi: Nripjit
Singh 'Noni' Chawla has resigned as managing director of Max
Healthcare, a division of the Analjit Singh-promoted Max India Ltd.
Noni Chawla will continue to serve on the Max India board as a
non-executive director.
Noni Chawla will
also act as a consultant to Analjit Singh for setting up a medical
school and a nursing school, recruiting physicians and surgeons,
marketing, project development, Max Foundation etc.
Noni Chawla
joined Max India two-and-a-half years ago as chief executive,
healthcare. Last year, he was appointed managing director, Max
Healthcare. Before joining Max India, Noni Chawla was with Korn Ferry,
a head hunting firm.

Fin takes in 4 additional directors
Mumbai: Tata Finance has inducted four additional directors to
its board.
The company has brought in IL&FS managing director, Ravi
Parthasarathy, eminent lawyer, Dinesh Vyas, Tata Sons vice-chairman, N
A Soonawala and former General Insurance Corporation chief, U Mahesh
Rao.

Sun Life restructure management in JVs
Mumbai: Aditya Birla group and Sun Life Financial have made changes in
the manangements of their four joint ventures.
S K Mitra, director financial services with Aditya Birla group, will
take over as director and CEO of asset management company from Jeremy
Beswick with effect from December 1.
Nani Javeri from Oman International Bank joins as new CEO of Birla Sun
Life Insurance Company from December 2 replacing Vijay Singh.
B N Puranmalka, director of Birla Management Corporation, Douglas
Henck, executive vice president Asian operations, Gary Comerford, vice
president (international) for Sun Life Financial would join all the
four JV executive committees while Sushil Agrawal, Aditya Birla Group,
would join the AMC executive committee.
