Naxals blow up Tata plant

Hyderabad: The outlawed Peoples War Group naxalites blew up a Tata Coffee Industry plant in Medak district in the wee hours of Friday. In the same district, the naxalites also blasted a granite factory, partly owned by union minister U V Krishnam Raju.

The naxalites had attacked the Heritage Foods factory in Piler owned by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidus wife Bhuvaneswari Devi on Thursday night.

Police said a group of naxalites went to the Tata Coffee factory located on Narsapur-Toopran road shortly after midnight and asked the 40 workers present to leave. The naxals also asked the eight security guards to leave the factory.

Later, they planted gelatin sticks in the building and exploded them, causing extensive damage to the coffee extraction units.

George Harrison dies of cancer
Los Angeles: George Harrison, the former guitarist of the Beatles died of cancer at a friend's house in Los Angeles. 58-year-old Harrison was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998.
Harrison is survived by his wife Olivia and 24-year-old son Dhani who were with him when he died.

Harrison, the youngest of the Beatles, was born on February 25, 1943 in Liverpool, England. His father, Harold was a bus driver and his mother a housewife.

He studied at the Dovedale primary school and then went on to the Liverpool Institute. At Dovedale, he was two forms junior to Lennon and at the Liverpool Institute, he was one form behind McCartney.
