Mayya on UTI board
New Delhi: The
Unit Trust of India has decided to appoint former BSE president MR
Mayya and ex-chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of
India (ICAI) chairman PN Shah as directors.
While Shah joined the board
in the last week of November, Mayya is awaiting a formal appointment
letter.
Shah would replace noted
chartered accountant Rajendra P Chitale who recently put in his papers
having taken up an audit assignment with IDBI.

New CEO for AOL Time
Warner
Washington: AOL
Time Warner chief executive Jerry Levin is stepping down as head of
the world's largest media company and will be replaced by co-chief
operating officer Richard Parsons.
Steve Case will remain as
chairman, while the company's other co-COO, Robert Pittman, will
become the sole COO, according to Wednesday's announcement.
AOL Time Warner said Levin
will retire at the company's board meeting in May 2002 following a
six-month transition.

Indo-American
Society award for Rajat Gupta
Mumbai:
McKinsey & Company Inc managing director Rajat Gupta on Wednesday
received Indo-American Societys annual award for 2001 in
recognition of his efforts as an Indian towards promoting better
Indo-US relations. He is the first non-American born managing director
of the global consultancy major McKinsey & Co.
Presenting the award to Gupta,
Reserve Bank of India governor Bimal Jalan said that both India and US
should work towards bridging the gap between the private interest and
public good.

M Balachandran heads
Apple India
New Delhi:
Apple Computers on Wednesday announced the appointment of Mahendran
Balachandran as the country manager for India and SAARC countries.
He will be responsible for Apple's business, sales and customer
support across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and
Bhutan, a release said here.
