Suicide
squad storms Parliament
New
Delhi: A suicide squad of five terrorists carrying
deadly explosives stormed the Parliament house complex and
fired indiscriminately with automatic weapons. Security
personnel waged a pitched battle before killing all of
them, losing six of their own.
Security
personnel were seen running in panic, trying to herd
people around to safety while at the same time closing all
doors of Parliament.
Suicide squads of
terrorists had managed to sneak into the Parliament
complex, armed with AK-47 guns and bagful of grenades,
riding in a white Ambassador, sporting a Home Ministry
pass and a red klaxon to which only VVIPs are entitled.
The five
terrorists, dressed in the uniform of `Black Cat'
commandos, began shooting indiscriminately the moment they
entered the complex from the main entrance and were
challenged by a Parliament security guard.
After about two
hours, the MPs who had been herded inside either the
Central Hall or library were escorted out one by one, with
the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan,
personally supervising their departure.
Seven persons,
mostly security personnel, were killed in the firing,
while 18, again mostly security personnel, sustained
injuries.
