RPG corporate planning
president quits
Mumbai:
V S Krishnan, president (corporate planning and strategy), RPG group,
has decided to quit. However, he will remain with the company till
April 30 next year. Krishnan will besucceeded by Murali Ramachandran.
Ramachandran is expected to
join the company next week and formally take over from Krishnan in
January.
Ramachandran has been
executive director and partner at consultancy firm KPMG for around two
years.

Vision
award for J.J. Irani
Kolkata: Dr
J.J. Irani, chairman of Tate Teleservices and former managing director
of Tata Steel, has been conferred the 12th annual Willy Korf Steel
Vision Award by World Steel Dynamics.
The Willy Korf award is given
to individuals who have made a major contribution to the steel
industry in terms of advancing change while at the same time promoting
integrity and goodwill in the industry.
In its communique, World
Steel Dynamics stated that, "through your vision and keen
business sense as managing director, Tata Steel has made extraordinary
advances including sizeable cost reductions, improved work efficiency
and upgraded product mix. What's more, you have done so while
demonstrating the utmost integrity and professionalism. Tata Steel now
appears to be among just a few steel mills in the world that can be
called world class producers.''
Dr Irani will receive the
award at the Steel Success Strategies XVII Conference to be held in
New York on June 18 and 19, 2002.

ANZ
Capital appoints Sawhny as finance head
Mumbai:
ANZ Investment Bank's subsidiary ANZ Capital has appointed Arjun
Sawhny director and head of corporate finance. Sawhny, a chartered
accountant, was earlier with KPMG as its partner.
ANZ Capital, with a team of 17 specialists in Mumbai and Delhi,
specialises in project finance, structured finance and corporate
advisory work with a particular focus on cross-border financing, it
said.
