Harshad Mehta dead
Mumbai: Harshad Mehta,
held for alleged misappropriation of Rs 250 crores from 27 lakh missing shares
of 90 blue chip companies, died at the Thane civil hospital early on Sunday.
Mehta, lodged in the Thane Central Jail, complained of chest pain around 11
o'clock last night and was later shifted to Thane Civil hospital. He died at
0040 hrs on Sunday.

Bharti too
slashes STD tariffs
Mumbai:
Te Bharti group has slashed rates on STD tariffs with effect from January 26,
matching those of the public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL).
This will result in both BSNL and the Bharti group offering the same ratesRs
9 per minute and Rs 4.5 per minuteto the 40 million existing customers. The
Bharti group is the first private telecom operator to offer NLD communication
in the country.
The rates are also applicable to cellular subscribers who use the network for
long-distance calls.
