GlobalSoft gets new Chairman
Bangalore: Digital GlobalSoft Ltd has announced the appointment
of Peter A. Mercury as its chairman. Mercury, who was earlier Senior
Vice-President and General manager of Compaq global services, replaces
Jeffery M. Lynn. Mercury has been with DEC for over 22 years and has
spearheaded the integration of the service organisations in Compaq,
Digital and Tandem.

Nilekani to take over as Infosys CEO
New Delhi: Nandan Nilekani would take over as the chief
executive officer of Infosys Technologies from 31 March 2002.
Nilekani, who is at present the managing director, president and chief
operating officer of Infosys, will take charge from current CEO
Narayana Murthy.
Nilekani is one of the six co-founders of Infosys. He has been the
managing director, president and chief operating officer of the
company since 1999. Earlier, he held the post of deputy managing
director and from 1981 to 1987, was based in the US, responsible for
Infosys' worldwide sales and marketing.
Professionally qualified as an Electrical Engineer (IIT, Mumbai),
Nilekani started his career in the software group of Patni Computer
Systems.
Nilekani is a co-founder of Nasscom, the apex industry body, and a
founding member of The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE), Bangalore Chapter, a
non-profit global network of professionals established to foster
entrepreneurship.

Bajaj receives best corp manager award
New Delhi: H L Bajaj, director, commercial, NTPC, has been
awarded as the best corporate manager for the year 2001 for his
performance in the power sector.
The award which was given by former prime minister I K Gujral on 10
January has been instituted by National Foundation of Indian
Engineers.
Bajaj played a key role in rural electrification of Haryana.
