E-mail
through the phone
Mumbai: An
Ahmedabad-based company has come up with a product that allows sending and
receiving e-mails and voice messages through the landline phone.
The product, called World On Phone,
has been developed by MOH Ltd. The company says it has more than 2,000
subscribers in Ahmedabad, around 1,000 in Surat and Baroda, 1,500 each in
Lucknow and Ghaziabad and 200 in Mumbai.
The company's services are operational
in Nairobi and Uganda.
The service is offered through a
franchisee system. Franchisees have their own infrastructure, which connects to
a central server in every city of WOP presence.
The subscriber to this service picks
up the phone, calls up a specified local WOP number and dials in his numerical
password. Through an interactive voice response system that uses speech
software, it will allow the user to send his e-mails by simply speaking out
what he wants to send or hearing his e-mails spoken out.
