Tata,
Birla exit Batata board
Mumbai: Ratan Tata
and Kumar Mangalam Birla have stepped down from the board of Batata,
the merged cellular entity of Birla, AT&T and Tata group.
The board comprising nine members will be represented by three
professionals from each company - the Tata group, the AV Birla group
and AT&T.
Tata group will be represented by Ishaat Hussain, R Gopalkrishnan and
Kishore Chaukker.
The AV Birla group will be represented on the Batata board by Birla
Management Corporation director Sourabh Mishra, Grasim Industries
chief financial officer D D Rathi and Grasim Industries director
(legal affairs) M Prasanna.
Among the three
directors from AT&T will be the company's India chief Virat Bhatia.

New
MD for Sony Music
Mumbai: Sony Music has appointed Shridhar Subramaniam, the
company's director-marketing, as the new managing director. He
replaces Vijay Singh, who recently put in his papers to take up
another assignment in the UK.
Subramaniam will take over after 28 February.
Sony Music has also appointed Ravina Raj Kohli and her newly-promoted
company called Sundial as creative consultants for its new
non-film projects.
Sridhar Subramaniam joined Sony Music six years ago in October 1996 as
part of the startup team and has headed the marketing division of the
company.

Enron
chief resigns
Houston:
Kenneth Lay, the chairman and chief executive of Enron Corp, has
resigned from the energy company.
Enron will select a
restructuring specialist to join Enron to help with its efforts to
come out of bankruptcy. The specialist will also serve as an acting
chief executive officer.
