Crompton Greaves director quits Mumbai: Crompton Greaves Ltd has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that S D Crowther has resigned from the board of directors of the company with effect from 1 February.

G N Bajpai new Sebi chief
New Delhi: Life Insurance Corporation chairman G N Bajpai has been appointed the chairman of Securities and Exchange Board of India.

Bajpai succeeds D R Mehta, who retired. Bajpai has been appointed as Sebi chief for a period of three years.

A Ramamurthy, the senior most managing director of LIC, is likely to succeed Bajpai as its chairman.

Kriegner to be Lafarge India CEO
Mumbai: Martin Kriegner, who is currently CEO of Lafarge Perlmooser (Austria) is taking over as the Lafarge India chief executive officer from Thomas Farrell, who is moving out of the companys India operations.

Farrell will take up his new assignment as executive vice-president of Lafarge North America. He will also be the president of the Western LCM (the western region of its Aggregates and Concreto division).

Lafarge is one of the three dominant player in the eastern India cement market with a market share of around 21 per cent, the other two players being ACC and Larsen & Toubro. The eastern India market has a demand of around 13 million tonne per annum.
