re-appointed IDBI Bank chief

Verma has been re-appointed as the chairman of IDBI Bank. The board,
which held its meeting on 11 March, approved his re-appointment as
part-time chairman for a further one year with effect from 12 March
2002.

Sanjay Gupta to join Adani
Gandhinagar:
Adani group has roped in Sanjay Gupta, former managing director of the
Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC), as its CEO
(Infrastructure).
Gupta is quitting the Indian
Administrative Service (IAS).
Gupta has served as secretary
to two former chief ministers of Gujarat.
Some of the projects that
will immediately come under Gupta would be the single buoy
mooring-based crude oil terminal and the container terminal at Mundra.
He would also be looking
after the group's interests in other port sites such as Dahej,
Gangavaram (Andhra Pradesh) and Gopalpur (Orissa).

K S Sarma is Prasar Bharati CEO
New Delhi:
Former director general of Doordarshan K S Sarma has taken over as the
chief executive officer of Prasar Bharati.
He took over from Anil Baijal, an additional secretary in the ministry
of information and broadcasting, who was holding the charge
temporarily.
Sarma worked as director general of Doordarshan between 1996 and 1998
when he was also joint secretary, broadcasting.
A 1968 Batch IAS Officer, Sarma, 58, was Additional Secretary,
Department of Education in the Human Resource Development Ministry
before taking over as CEO.

HLL's
export director quits
Mumbai:
Hindustan Lever's exports director V Balaraman has put in his papers
to pursue other interests.
Balaraman, who was the managing director of the erstwhile Pond's
India, is to 'retire' in June.
HLL exports group would be headed by A Adhikari, export director
(personal products), and the beverages group by S Ravindranath,
ED-beverages. All other export operations would be headed by A K
Mathur.
