China seeks India's help
for tech parks
Kolkata: China has
sought India's help to set up software technology parks and software training
institutes.
"We have land and money, but we
need professionl advice to set up software parks in our country and as India
has proved itself to be No 1 in the world in software, we would like to utilise
its expertise," director general, state bureau of foreign affairs, China,
Zhao Xuofang said here.
Xuofang, who led a four-member Chinese
delegation at an interaction organised by Merchants' Chamber of Commerce, told
reporters that she had held discussions with the director of software
technology park of India in New Delhi seeking his advice for setting up STPIs
in China.

Suratgarh
power station commissioned
New Delhi: Bharat
Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has successfully commissioned Rajasthan-based
Suratgarh thermal power stations 250 mw fourth unit ahead of schedule.
The units completion under stage
two expansion programme ahead of schedule was due to the adoption latest
techniques and deployment of state-of-the-art construction aid.
Bhel completed the third 250 mw units
five months ahead of schedule while first and second unit got completed in 1988
and 2000.
The project located about 150 km from
Bikaner will have cumulative capacity of 1250 mw on completion of the fifth
unit which is expected to be complete ahead of schedule in next financial year.

Chinese PC
makers exploring Indian market
New Delhi: Two leading
Chinese PC makers, Legend Computer System and China Great Wall Computer, are
exploring business opportunities in India.
The two Chinese PC makers have already
made the required market enquiries and are set to launch their brands in the
Indian market.
The Chinese companies may go through
the re-seller route rather than have a direct presence here. The Chinese PCs
are at least 30 per cent cheaper than PCs from any other company operating in
the Indian market at present.

Real time
settlement soon says Sebi chief
Chennai: Real time
settlement is not going to be "too distant a dream" in the Indian
stock market, Sebi chief G N Bajpai said.
"We have the technological capabilities for the same and moreover stock
exchanges and depositories are already on realtime. Once the banking system
also becomes real time, the necessary connectivity for real time settlement
could be easily established," he said.
Bajpai was inaugurating the regional office as well as the Business Continuity
and Disaster recovery site of the National Stock Exchange here on 25 March.
