John Band quits ASK Raymond
Mumbai: John Band, chief executive of investment bank and brokerage house ASK Raymond James, has put in his papers. Band is planning to start his own investment banking company.

The entire investment banking team of ASK Raymond James was likely to move out with Band.

Mumbai: Hughes Tele.coms president and CEO Prakash Bajpai is joining Reliance Infocom. He is expected to take up the new assignment in about ten days.

Varghese to be Hughes Tele CEO
Mumbai, April 4: George Varghese is taking over as the CEO of Hughes Telecom.

According to an official release issued to the BSE today, Varghese will replace Prakash Bajpai, who is leaving the company. Varghese was earlier the COO of the company.

Basu is new CERC chairman
New Delhi: Ashok Kumar Basu has taken over as chairman of the central electricity regulatory commission (CERC).

Power minister Suresh Prabhu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Basu who had retired as power secretary on 31 March 2002.

S.L. Rao, the founder chairman of CERC, had demitted office in January 2001 when many of the commission's orders on tariff fixation were challenged by central power utilities.
