India and China to produce low cost computers
Beijing: India and
China are looking to produce low cost computers for their rural masses as well
as for exports.
We are talking with leading Chinese hardware companies about producing low
cost computers which are in the range of $100 to $200 that could be affordable
to rural population in both countries, Rajeeva Ratna Shah, secretary,
ministry of communications and information technology said.
A high-level Indian delegation on a visit to China discussed ways and means to
enhance India-China cooperation in the IT sector with senior officials of the
Chinese ministry of information industry.
It also held talks with officials of top hardware companies like Legend and
Great Wall.

Cairn
strikes oil in offshore Gujarat
New Delhi: British oil
exploration company Cairn Energy has reported discovery of significant oil
reserves in offshore Gujarat.
Good quality crude oil was discovered below the existing gas discovery in Laxmi
field of block CB-OS-2 in Cambay basin.
The oil from the shallow water, 20 m depth, well LA-2 flowed at 5,200 barrels
per day.
This is 11th hydrocarbon discovery by Cairn Energy in India, the earlier ones
being in Cambay Basin, Krishan- Godavari Basin and Rajasthan.
