TDP demands Modis ouster
Hyderabad: TDP, a major
ally of Vajpayee government, has demanded the immediate removal of Gujarat
chief minister Narendra Modi.
"The TDP demands the BJP to immediately effect a change of leadership in
Gujarat," a resolution adopted by TDP polit bureau at its meet here said.
"Unless this is done, we will be guilty of eroding public confidence and
failing to provide just and fair governance to the citizens of the
country," it said.
The TDP, which has 27 members in Lok Sabha and has made known its unhappiness
about the handling of the situation in Gujarat by Modi government, is the
fourth NDA ally after JD (U), Trinamool Congress and Lok Janshakti Party, to
seek the chief minister's removal.

Company
law panel reconstituted
New Delhi: The
government has reconstituted the company law advisory committee. HLL
vice-president, M K Sharma and ICICIs Kalpana Morparia are among the new
members who have been inducted into the committee.
As its first assignment, the committee headed by department of company affairs
secretary Vinod Dhall has begun work on drafting guidelines, including
penalties, to be imposed for condonation of various offences under the
Companies Act 1956.
It has also set up a sub-committee to discuss inspections of the books of
accounts of companies ordered by the DCA under section 209A, compounding of
offences under section 621A and the prosecution provisions under various
sections of the Act, an official release issued here said.
