Ravina Kohli is Star News president
New Delhi:
Star India has appointed Ravina Raj Kohli as the president of Star
News.
Star is slated to run the news operations on its own after termination
of its five-year content deal with Prannoy Roy's NDTV in March 2003.
As president, Star News channel, Kohli would report to Star India
chief executive officer Peter Mukherjea. She was instrumental for
setting up Kerry Packer's Nine Gold on DD Metro. Prior to that, Kohli
was head of programming and marketing at Sony Entertainment
Television.
Meanwhile, Star Asia has announced a third-quarter operating profit
for the first the first time since 1993. The company has posted an
operating profit of $2.4 million compared with a loss of $10.7 million
a year earlier. Earning before interest, taxes, depreciation and
amortisation would be $7.2 million, against a loss of $5.8 million a
year earlier.
