DSilva to head Star distribution
New Delhi: Tony DSilva, former head of Modi Entertainment Network (MEN) is tipped to join Star India as head of distribution.

MEN, which initially distributed ESPN in India, is now handling distribution for channels such as Hallmark, 10 Sports etc.

Star India seems to be on a restructuring drive for its top management. DSilvas appointment comes close on the heels of Ravina Raj Kohli taking over as President for Stars soon-to-be launched Hindi news channel.

Soota to take over as CII chief
New Delhi: Ashok Soota, co-founder, MindTree Consulting, will take over as the president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) from Sanjiv Goenka, vice-president, RPG Enterprises.

This is the first time that an infotech honcho is becoming the head of a business chamber.

Arun Kumar new Nasscom chairman
Bangalore: The National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) has appointed Arun Kumar, managing director of Hughes Software Systems, as its new chairman.

Nasscom said in a statement that its executive council unanimously ratified the appointment of Kumar to take over from Phiroze Vandrevala of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

Nasscom groups more than 850 Indian companies engaged in software or allied services.

Ayyangar as Sanofi CEO
Mumbai: Shailesh Ayyangar, former executive vice-president, sales and marketing of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, has been appointed country head of Sanofi-Synthelabos Indian arm.

Ayyangar moved to Sanofi after fifteen years with GSK.

Sanofi-Synthelabo, one of Frances largest drugmakers, is represented by a wholly-owned subsidiary in Mumbai.

Ayyangar replaces Herve Boucherie, an expatriate, as country head and MD of Sanofi-Synthelabo in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
