AP to have IT-enabled cinema theatres
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh will be the first in the country to have a taste of IT enabled cinema theatres.

The state government has recently passed a government order allowing a private investor to put up 1,125 IT-enabled small capacity cinema theatres in the state.

Prathina Net Entertainment plans to set up 1,125 theatres which will screen the latest flicks using DVD-ROM technology. The IT-enabled cinema system comes as a package comprising an information kiosk, STD/ISD PCO facility, a digital cinema server, digital projector and other associated accessories.

The digital screening facility will screen digitally encoded and encrypted films distributed by DVD-ROMs initially and at a later stage through optical fibre and satellite streaming.

Govt, Suzuki agree on MUL divestment
New Delhi: Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan and the government of India have reached an agreement on divestment of equity in the joint venture Maruti Udyog Ltd by the Indian partner.

The broad agreement was reached after three month long negotiations.

Government is expected to divest up to five per cent of stake by not participating in the proposed Rs 400 crore rights issue in lieu of renunciation and control premium. The two sides have also agreed on pricing of MUL equity and premium for the rights issue.

RIL official to surrender
New Delhi: A Delhi court stayed the non-bailable warrant issued against Reliance Industries group oresident V Balasubramaniam for alleged violation of Official Secrets Act till 13 May after his counsel gave an undertaking that he will surrender before the court on the same day.

Chief metropolitan magistrate Sangita Dhingra Sehgal said the accused should surrender before the court at 1000 hours on 13 May.

Balasubramaniam and two other Reliance officials were named in the CBI compliant after the agency had recovered four sensitive secret documents pertaining to cabinet meetings in 1998.
