Corporate tax collections double
New Delhi:
With India Inc making higher pay-outs in the first instalment of advance tax, the central governments net corporate tax collections nearly doubled to touch Rs 3,990 crore up to 25 June 2002 as compared to Rs 2,085 crore in the same period last year.

NCAER, IEG disagree on GDP forecast for 2002-03

While the National Council of Applied Economic Research proposes to have a re-look at its gross domestic product forecast for fiscal 2002-03 in view of the government confirming GDP growth of 5.4 per cent for 2001-02, the Institute of Economic Growth feels the government estimates are on the higher side.

Agriculture growth pegged at 6.11%

The growth rate in agriculture and allied sectors increased to 6.11 per cent during 2001-02, according to the fourth advance estimates of agricultural production. Total food grain output has increased to 211.32 million tonnes.
