'Upturn to take months'
The initial signs of a global recovery spotted in first two quarters of 2002, are fast waning and an upturn will take months, with growth forecasts for 2002 and 2003 lowered by about 100 basis points for major economies, according to Norbert Walter, chief economist, Deutsche Bank group.

Pendse claims top brass knew all about transactions
Mumbai: Dilip Pendse, accused by the Tata group of being responsible for the Rs 424-crore Tata Finance scam, has claimed that senior Tata group officials including chairman Ratan Tata were aware of the companys various transactions which resulted in the scam, and are keeping an unnatural silence on the role and involvement of other board members.
