Textile row: miles to go before India, EU come closer
New Delhi: India’s exports of textiles and clothing to the 15-nation European Union amounted to $3.7 billion last year, China’s to $9.4 billion. Logically, you would expect European textile and garment manufacturers to feel more threatened by China than India, and to press the EU’s textile negotiators in Geneva to take a much tougher line towards Beijing than New Delhi.
