Western
India faces daily load shedding up to 5,000 MW
Mumbai: The increase in power demand to 29,000
mw against the availability of 23,000 mw, lack of capacity
addition, poor monsoons and rise in agriculture load has
resulted in a daily load shedding of over 5,000 mw in
the western region comprising Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya
Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and Goa.

Transporters
threaten strike from Nov 15
New Delhi: Transporters have threatened to stop
booking of goods in a phased manner from November 8. All
India Motor Transport Congress, which organised a nation-wide
dharna on Monday, has also called for a suspension of
operations including booking and delivery of goods from
November 15.

being trained to use portable radars
New Delhi: India has begun training the troops
in using portable radars recently bought from Israel.
These radars are being installed along the border with
Pakistan in Kashmir.

Brazil for use of trims to promote home units
New Delhi: In a joint communication to the committee
on Trade-related Investment Measures of the WTO, India
and Brazil have proposed amendments in the Trims Agreement
seeking specific provisions to allow developing countries
flexibility for implementing development policies.
