Bush
to push for low-cost generic drugs
Washington: US President George Bush will propose
new regulations aimed at speeding consumer access to lower-cost
generic drugs by limiting the ability of drug firms to
prolong patent protections. Senior officials said the
proposed rule changes would lower prescription drug costs
by $3bn a year in the US.
