Proposed AEPC action against garment exporters put on hold
New Delhi: The Textile Commissioner has stalled the tough action proposed to be taken by the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) against 1,000 garment exporters who have failed to respond to its legal notices seeking them to forward information from the United States to prove utilisation of their quotas issued to them during 2000. A meeting of the council’s enforcement committee called in Delhi on Wednesday to give a hearing to 150 such exporters in this regard was adjourned by the Textile Commissioner after strong representations from three local trade bodies.

SC reserves ruling on limited mobility
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has reserved its verdict on the petition by Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) challenging the government's decision to allow basic operators offer limited mobility services on wireless local loop (WLL).

The judgment on the petition was reserved by a Bench comprising the Chief Justice, Mr G B Pattanaik, Mr Justice H K Sema and Mr Justice S B Sinha after a four-day hearing during which both the cellular operators and the Government (along with basic operators) presented their views on the matter.
