Consensus
reached on divestment
New Delhi: The Government has unanimously decided
to sort out the issue of disinvestment. Briefing newspersons
here on Thursday, Information and Broadcasting Minister
Sushma Swaraj said that Disinvestment Minister Arun Shourie
would announce the decision in Parliament next week. Ms
Swaraj refused to give further details on the subject.

Central
PCB slaps notice on major TN distillers
Chennai: The Central Pollution Control Board has
again slapped production restrictions on a number of distillery
units in Tamil Nadu despite a clean chit by the State
Pollution Control Board, according to industry sources.
The
sources said that about six major distillery units in
Tamil Nadu have been issued with production restriction
notices. The Central authority has laid down norms that
will essentially mean that distillery units will have
to restrict production to about 30 per cent of the installed
capacity.

Calcutta
HC refuses to stay court fee hike
Kolkata: Mr Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya of the
Calcutta High Court on Thursday refused to grant stay
over the ordinance on the hike in court fees.
Zenith
Credit and others filed a writ petition challenging the
legality of the West Bengal Court Fees (Amendment) Ordinance,
2002. In the petition, it was stated that a court order
was required for not giving any effect to the enhancement
in court fees and pleaded to strike down the ordinance.

Field
trials of GM groundnut crop on in india
New Delhi: The transgenic groundnut crop which
is suitable for Indian conditions and is developed by
the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid
Tropics (ICRISAT) is currently undergoing a series of
field trials, said the director-general William D Dar.

Work
on Kochi IT park from Dec 15
Thiruvanthapuram: The master plan for the 12-lakh
square feet IT park at the Kinfra Export Promotion Park
at Kakkanad near Kochi is ready and work will begin on
December 15, according to sources in the state IT Mission,
the official implementing agency for IT in the state.
