New Delhi: In a bid to facilitate private sector
participation in commercial coal mining, the Tenth Plan
has recommended amendment to the Coal Bearing Areas Act
to allow private sector the rights for exploration and
mining without taking permission from state governments.

New Delhi: The Union minister of heavy industries
and public enterprises Balasaheb Vikhe-Patil, who had
called for a review of the Centres disinvestment
policy, welcomed on Friday the compromise formula over

said that there was no need to lower tariff on edible
oils at this stage. He said that edible oil imports would
rise this year due to drought and such imports could be
