Excise duty on cigarettes used for tests: SC
New Delhi: In a major judgment affecting the Rs 12,000 crore cigarette industry, the Supreme Court has ruled that any stick of cigarette manufactured by a company, even if used for testing purposes in the laboratory within its own factory premises, is liable to excise duty.

LCA enters advanced testing stage
New Delhi: The indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft is in an advanced stage of flight testing, said Union defence minister George Fernandes. He added that forty one flight tests had been successfully conducted on two technology demonstrators of LCA.
