clears 1000 MW power project for NTPC
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government, which has come
under severe attack from the ruling and opposition parties
for the ongoing power shortage of nearly 2,000 mw, has
finally given an in-principle clearance for a 1,000 mw
coal-based power project by the state-run National Thermal
Power Corporation in the coal rich Nagpur region.

Inter-linking
of rivers may cost Rs 5,60,000 crore
New Delhi: The tentative cost of implementation
of the proposed identified scheme of inter-linking rivers
under the National Perspective Plan, both under peninsular
and Himalayan component at 2002 price level, is estimated
at Rs 5,60,000 crore, said Union water resources minister
Arjun Charan Sethi.
