three chiral drug compounds, which are expected to be
in the market by this year-end. These
are anti-asthmatic R-Salbutamol, anti-histamine Citrizine
and beta blocker Atenolol.

Leyland unveils new tipper truck
Mumbai:Commercial vehicles major, Ashok Leyland
Ltd today unveiled a new tipper truck ahead of `Build
India 2003,' scheduled to start here from January 9. The
truck - India's first twin bin two-way tipper - is called
`Rubic.' Unlike traditional tippers, Rubic has two bins
- each of seven cubic metres capacity - that tip sideways
independently.

board reconstituted
Hyderabad: The board of directors of Nagarjuna
Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd (NFCL), the Hyderabad-based
pesticides and fertilisers manufacturer, has been reconstituted.
In a communiqué to the stock exchanges on Tuesday,
the company said the Chairman of KRIBHCO, Mr Chandra Pal
Singh Yadav, has been appointed as nominee director of
KRIBCO on the company's board from December 23, 2002.

Grasim
plans L&T stake swap with FIs
Mumbai: The Aditya Birla Group flagship Grasim
Industries has drawn up an alternative proposal for the
demerger of Larsen & Toubro's (L&T) cement business
which envisages Grasim swapping its 15 per cent holding
in L&T for L&T Cement shares owned by financial
institutions (FIs).
The
three-step vertical demerger proposal has Grasim finally
ending up with a 50 per cent stake in the demerged cement
company, following an open offer for another 20 per cent,
and shedding its entire stake in L&T through the swap.

Mumbai: The corporate restructuring announced by
AV Birla group companies Hindalco Industries and Indo
Gulf in July last year, involving the merger of Birla

Telecom cuts net loss
Mumbai: Hughes Tele.com (India) Ltd reported a
net loss of Rs 21.8 crore for the quarter ending December
2002 against a net loss of Rs 37.3 crore in the year-ago
period. The company has announced a 133 per cent increase
in operating profit at Rs 16.3 crore for the quarter ended
December 2002 against Rs 7 crore in the year-ago period.

to set up development centre in Kerala
Bangalore: Infosys Technologies has decided to
set up a development centre in Kerala, said the Kerala
Chief Minister, Mr A. K. Antony, speaking to presspersons
today.
He
met the Infosys Chief Mentor, Mr N. R. Narayana Murthy,
and the board of directors this morning. The company is
looking at 25 acres of land for its centre, he said.

Hyderabad: Satyam Computer Services has joined Infosys
and Wipro in increasing India's IT presence in Canada.
Its
operations at the newly created Solutions Development
Centre in Toronto will get underway soon, according to
Mr Sanjay Tugnait, Vice-President and newly appointed
Country Manager. A business plan to target Canadian companies,
especially in the manufacturing and financial services
sectors has been firmed up and would be put in place,
Mr Tugnait told newspersons here. With Canada being a
member of the G7 nations and having a trillion dollar
economy, a Solutions Development Centre would give the
company good opportunities. The centre would also cater
to the US market, he said.
