Textile dispute: EU to decide duty reimposition after sunset review
New Delhi:
Brussels has initiated a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on Indian cotton bed linen and issued a notice to the European textile sector. The move is to ascertain whether the duty should be reimposed to safeguard it against any material injury due to imports from India.

Defence outlay may go up by 5 per cent
New Delhi: The government is likely to hike the defence budget by about five per cent for the year 2003-04 over the last year’s outlay of Rs 65,000 crore. Though, last year too defence budget had seen a modest increase over the year before, a substantial sum remained unutilised.

Aviation ministry to pitch for abolition of IATT in budget
New Delhi: The civil aviation ministry is pitching for the abolition of 15 per cent Inland Air Travel Tax in the Budget which may make domestic air travel cheaper. The ministry has also sought removal of sales tax on aviation turbine fuel for the industry.
