plans to ease FDI norms for housing
New Delhi:The
government has proposed far reaching changes in its foreign
investment policy for housing and real estate development
by allowing FDI (foreign direct investment) in construction
activity on any land above one acre. The
earlier guideline had stipulated a minimum acquisition
of 100 acres for integrated township development.

large-scale delisting by foreign cos: Jaswant
New Delhi:The Union Finance Minster, Mr Jaswant Singh,
today categorically assured the Lok Sabha that the Government
has not altered or diluted the guidelines governing foreign
companies to provide 26 per cent equity to Indians. He
also denied any largescale delisting by foreign companies
from stock exchanges taking advantage of the present liberalisation
policy.

Telecom
meet makes `some' headway
New Delhi:The telecom committee constituted by the
Communications Minister, Mr Arun Shourie, to solve the
contentious issues between the cellular and limited mobility
operators, has decided to seek an adjournment of the cases
that are coming up for hearing by the Telecom Dispute
Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on Monday.

to tighten H1B visa norms
New Delhi:The US will tighten the regulations governing
H1B visas and revise the ceiling for issuing such visas
to ensure that only qualified information technology professionals
enter the country, according to Mr James Sensenbrenner
Jr., Chairman of the House of Judiciary Committee.
