Dow closes 102 points down
Mumbai:
Stocks sank on Thursday, as uncertainty over war and a string of corporate profit warnings knocked the blue-chip Dow to a closing low not seen since early October. The Dow Jones industrial average shed 101.61 points, or 1.31 per cent, to 7,673.99 and the Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 11.48 points, or 0.87 per cent, to 1,302.92.

Sensex dips below 3,200 as Reliance tumbles
Mumbai:
There appears to be no respite to the overall weak market sentiment with the key indices registering the fourth straight day of decline. After a weak opening, the key indices — the BSE Sensex and the NSE S&P CNX Nifty — remained stuck in a narrow zone until a late bout of selling pressure in index heavyweights pulled down the indices towards the close of the trading session.

Shasun Chem up on performance hopes
Mumbai:
Shasun Chemicals and Drugs was in the limelight on Thursday. The stock gained 1.58 per cent at Rs 87 on the BSE with volumes of 26,050 shares (up from 3,039 shares). On the NSE, the stock closed at Rs 88.25, up 2.5 per cent while volumes increased to 53,992 shares from 4,262 shares.

Media stocks dive on cricket fever
Mumbai:
Media and entertainment stocks led by Zee Telefilms Ltd (ZTL) were down on Thursday's trading primarily in the absence of a trigger. On the BSE, the Zee stock dipped by Rs 2.25 to Rs 74.85 with volumes of 10.71 lakh shares. Balaji Telefilms edged down by Rs 0.85 to Rs 67.55 with volumes of 10,913 shares. Sri Adhikari Brothers went down by Rs 0.65 to Rs 59.50 with volumes of 14,619 shares. Mukta Arts, however, moved up marginally to Rs 56.75 (Rs 57.45) with 37,840 shares being traded.

Re strengthens; gilts up
Mumbai:
The rupee ended stronger on Thursday at 47.6250/6300 against the dollar as compared to Wednesday's close of 47.6400/6450 in the forex markets. The domestic unit was seen appreciating on back of good supplies of the dollar.
