spurns EU demand for lifting QRs on 100 items
New Delhi: During the recent bilateral consultations,
New Delhi has told Brussels that the import restrictions
being maintained by it on over 100 products are in accordance
with the provisions of articles 20 and 21 of the general
agreement on tariffs & trade and cannot therefore
be dismantled.

EOUs
seek service tax exemption
New Delhi: A delegation of the council for hundred
per cent export-oriented units (EOUs) has urged the commerce
ministry to take up with the finance ministry the issue
of exempting the units from service tax and allowing them
to carry forward unabsorbed depreciation/business losses
under section 10B of the Income Tax Act.
