job outlook still dim in US after tiny fourth quarter
gain
New York: The job market for US infotech workers improved
slightly in the fourth quarter, but prospects for an even
better market have dimmed as managers slashed expectations
due to the war in Iraq. Layoffs of information technology,
or IT, professionals slowed "considerably" in
the fourth quarter and employment in their ranks expanded
about 1 per cent on a net gain of 97,000 jobs from the
prior quarter.

reports big drop in passenger figures in March
Amsterdam: KLM, Europe's number four airline, said
on Thursday the number of passengers flying in March dropped
sharply, mainly in the last week of the month as fears
over the SARS virus and war in Iraq took its toll.
