A former Iraqi general who claims to be the Deputy Governor
of postwar Baghdad announced on Sunday that he would head
a delegation to an Opec meeting in Vienna this week.

New York: To facilitate growth and implement economic
reforms after two decades of civil war in Sri Lanka, the
International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a $567
million credit for the island nation to support the government's
programmes through 2006.

posts $58-bn budget shortfall in March
Washington: The US government has posted a deficit
in March of $58.71 billion, the Treasury Department said
on Friday, bringing the year-to-date fiscal shortfall
to more than a quarter of a trillion dollars.

Washington: The US market watchdog Securities and
