Hyundai Motor India's best-selling small car, Santro, is likely to be exported under the Dodge label to North America. Dodge is a brand owned by DaimlerChrysler, which has a 10 per cent stake in Hyundai Motor India's parent, Hyundai Motor Company.

HC declines to extend stay in Jessop case

Justice K.J. Sengupta of the Calcutta High Court on Thursday refused to extend the "stay of operation" on the order passed on March 28, 2003, holding that the decision to disinvest shares of the Union Government in Jessop & Co Ltd (JCL) was not in accordance with the law.

TVS recasts operations in Lanka, ropes in new partner

,T.V. Sundram Iyengar & Sons has restructured its Sri Lanka operations, by roping in a new local partner and converting it into a 50:50 joint venture. Simultaneously, the Sri Lankan company TVS Lanka P Ltd has set up a subsidiary, also in partnership with another local company, for dealing in automobile spare parts.

TVS Motor Company is contemplating setting up a motorbike manufacturing facility in South-East Asia. Plans in this regard, including the country where the proposed plant will be located, were being firmed up. Besides, the company has decided to set up a three-wheeler manufacturing unit in Karnataka at an estimated investment of Rs 500 crore.

Ingersoll Rand has proved yet again that the growth in the road machinery business is indeed going to stay. As expected sales rose 15 per cent to Rs 438 crore. The profits for the last quarter and consequently the full year were pulled down due to the unexpected extra-ordinary item in respect of sales tax liability for
the previous five years amounting to Rs 10.5 crore.
