Urban
development ministry rapped for financial jugglery
New Delhi: A parliamentary committee on ministry
of urban development and poverty alleviation has charged
the government for financial jugglery and
non-performance on the urban poverty front. The committee
in its report stated that the department of urban employment
and poverty alleviation did financial jugglery just
to give an impression that there is no decrease in budgetary
estimate for 2003-04 over that of 2002-03. The department
has first reduced revenue section on Plan side and then
correspondingly increased allocation under capital section
on Plan side in the budgetary estimate of 2003-04, which
clearly depicts that the poverty alleviation schemes of
the department are not performing well, said the standing
committee report.
