Wallace spins off brewing, distilling operations as arms
Mumbai: As a part of the ongoing large-scale executive
realignments within Shaw Wallace, Deepak Chaudhuri, who
has been heading the beer business as director, has been
moved from the breweries division and appointed as head
of Shaw Wallaces traditional businesses to give
the new managing director Richard Rushton a free hand
to form his own team in the joint venture.
Shaw Wallaces traditional businesses include agro-chemicals,
gelatines and Colombo-based trading company, Shaw Wallace
& Hedges Limited. Shaw Wallace and SABMiller formed
a joint venture for beer last week in which both the companies
merged their brewing assets resulting in an entity accounting
for 35 per cent of the beer market share in the country.
