C.S. Rao is new IRDA Chairman
New Delhi: The Government on Tuesday appointed Revenue Secretary, C.S. Rao, as the next Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA). Rao would take over from the present Chairman, N. Rangachary, on June 10. Rangachary's seven-year stint at the helm of IRDA comes to an end on June 9. Rao, who was due to retire from service on May 31, would hold office at IRDA for a five-year stint till the attainment of 65 years of age. The industry believes that Rao would have a tough task of maintaining the exemplary regulatory standards set by his predecessor.
