C.S.
Rao is new IRDA Chairman
New Delhi: The Government on Tuesday appointed
Revenue Secretary, C.S. Rao, as the next Chairman of the
Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA).
Rao would take over from the present Chairman, N. Rangachary,
on June 10. Rangachary's seven-year stint at the helm
of IRDA comes to an end on June 9. Rao, who was due to
retire from service on May 31, would hold office at IRDA
for a five-year stint till the attainment of 65 years
of age. The industry believes that Rao would have a tough
task of maintaining the exemplary regulatory standards
set by his predecessor.
