Ninu
Khanna tipped to head Britannia
Bangalore: The current managing director of Nusli
Wadia-controlled Bombay Dyeing, Ninu Khanna, is tipped
to be in the race for leadership at bakery major Britannia
Industries, market sources said. Incidentally, Wadias
own substantial stake in Britannia. However, the official
spokesman of Bombay Dyeing denied such market talk as
"mere speculation". Britannia's board of directors
are scheduled to meet on June 3 to discuss the departure
issue of its current managing director, Sunil Alagh. Alagh,
who is currently on an overseas vacation, had earlier
informed the company's board his intention of not renewing
his contract, which expires in February 2004. There is
talk that Alagh could leave the company prior to the normal
contract tenure and the Wadias are on the lookout for
an immediate replacement, if such a situation arises.
Alagh's decision to leave Britannia follows intense market
talk on his possible departure from the company tracking
certain differences with the Wadia family.
